The Society (NBLS) is interested in the erstwhile North British Locomotive Company (NBLC) which was based in Glasgow, Scotland. The Company built a variety of locomotives not only for the home market but also for various gauges throughout the world. The Society covers a variety of interests not only in the activities of the original Company but also the preservation a NBLC 25NC 3405, (4-8-4) steam locomotive, built for use in South Africa, and also various other aspects of railway interest. 3405, which once hauled the illustrious Blue Train, has been bought back to the UK. The ultimate aim of the Society is to get this locomotive back to full working operation and into steam. She is the largest fixed frame locomotive in preservation in this country. |
